Indonesia once again participated in the biggest tourism fair in Italy, BIT Milano 2020, which took place in Fieramilanocity and MiCo on February 9-11, 2020.

Jakarta: Indonesia once again participated in the biggest tourism fair in Italy, BIT Milano 2020, which took place in Fieramilanocity and MiCo on February 9-11, 2020.

During the event, Indonesia took the opportunity to strengthen the promotion of 5 Super Priority Destinations: Lake Toba (North Sumatra), Borobudur (Central Java), Mandalika (West Nusa Tenggara), Labuan Bajo (East Nusa Tenggara) and Likupang (North Sulawesi) as well as facilitate business meetings for the tourism industries.

Emphasizing Indonesia as the world’s biggest archipelago country with powerful maritime power, Pavilion Indonesia featured Phinisi ship as its focal point. The images of 5 Super Priority Destinations added impression on Indonesia tourism potential, representing its nature, culture, and adventure as well.

A total of 11 tourism industries participated in Pavilion Indonesia. They consisted of 6 tour operator/travel agents, 2 DMC, and 3 hotels/accommodation/resort/villa originating from 4 provinces: West Papua, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, and Jakarta.

“Italy is one potential market to promote Indonesia tourism as it ranks 6th in term of contributing tourists from European market after UK, France, Germany, Netherland, and Russia,” the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry said in a press release issued on Wednesday, February 12, 2020.

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Italian tourists visiting Indonesia is growing positively. As many as 94,288 Italian tourists visited Indonesia in 2018, or increased 4.73 percent from 2017 with 90,022 tourists.

BIT Milano is one of tourism exhibitions in Italy that promotes the meeting between decision makers, industry experts, carefully selected and profiled buyers from geographic areas with the highest rate of economic growth and from all sectors of the chain. In 2019, it recorded 1,300 exhibitors from 100 Italian and foreign destinations, buyers from 67 countries, 1,900 press operators, and 43,000 visitors during the three-day event.
